Below is a list of answers to the most common questions we are asked as Krav Maga instructors.                                                  Please don't hesitate to contact us with your own enquiries.
Am I too old to take part?

There is no age barrier to learning Krav Maga.We currently have students ranging from 15 to 78 years of age

Do you need to be fit to start training?

No. We train every student to their own individual needs and fitness level initially. We WILL get you much fitter as you progress

What about old injuries/health issues?

As long as your Doctor is happy for you to train and you disclose limitations/issues to us at the outset we will tailor your training accordingly.

Is it very violent?

The cold truth is sometimes dealing with a situation effectively and efficiently means being aggressive and deploying measured counter violence. We always teach in a friendly fun environment and explain everything as we go through techniques. Where Krav maga deserves its reputation for neccessary brutality at times it is NEVER gratuitously violent. First rule...never get involved if possible!

Is it all men?

Definately not, every class we teach has approx. 30% ladies.

Does it not attract a certain 'type'?

We currently teach postmen, lawers, policemen and women, nurses, Beauticians, soldiers etc...There is no 'type'
Is it expensive? We provide the best instruction and service in Scotland. We also pride ourselves on being the least expensive club to train with while having the best per capita grading rate. We have no joining fees or minimum term etc. Our view is that effective Krav maga self defence should be available to everybody in Scotland irrespective of their financial position. Contact us for more info on training options.

Do you have gradings every other week in order to make money?

Definately not. students who wish to grade can do so twice a year approx. Many students are interested only in the defensive skills and fitness aspects of KMAS classes.

What equipment would i need?

Initially all you need is a groin guard (which we can supply) Loose training clothing, a towel and a bottle of water. Any other equipment is provided by us initially.

Can I attend more than one class a week?

Of course, all KMAS students can visit any of our classes across Edinburgh, Glasgow,  Lanarkshire, Fife and the Lothians. We have close ties with other clubs also allowing our members training in Perthshire and Stirlingshire with more areas to follow in 2012.
